The dynamics of the stellardynamical analogue of the GLB sheet, which serves as a model of a patch of a galactic disk, is studied. It is shown that, if free boundary conditions are assumed, only shearing, `swing amplified' density waves develop. If a left-hand boundary which represents a Q-barrier, i.e. dynamically inactive inner parts of the galactic disk, is considered, density waves with well defined angular frequencies and growth rates appear. It is argued that these rigidly rotating modes are still due to the `swing-amplification' mechanism operating in the disk.
