The general design and principle of operation of a prototype autonomous module of a deep-sea neutrino telescope are described. The autonomous module consists of a group of photoelectron amplifiers for the detection of Cerenkov emission as part of the general event selection circuit. The module has an autonomous power supply system and a specialized processor for primary data processing. The autonomous modules will be combined to construct a large-scale telescope. Results of the full-scale testing of the prototype module are summarized.
