The importance of increasing the angular resolution of instruments for studying maser sources and objects with active nuclei is stressed. Taking into consideration wavelength range, weight, reliability, simplicity of construction, and noise, the best antenna for a radio telescope is thought to be the parabolic reflector type. The Cassegrain design for irradiation makes it possible to obtain high electrical parameters and the best possible configuration for a radio telescope. Through changes in the angular position of the small reflector, a source signal can be sought within the limits of a number of directivity diagrams (approximately 1 deg); these changes also permit continued tracking, directly on the basis of the received signal, of a source with high accuracy within the limits of the diagram.
