A 15-minute-long episode of pulsed gamma-ray emission has been detected from Her X-1 on 1988 June 12. The observed pulsation period of (1.23762 +/-0.00015)s is statistically indistinguishable from the contemporary X-ray period. The 35d phase for the episode is 0.02, showing that it has occurred near the expected onset time of the 'HIGH-ON' state in the X-ray flux. The 1.7d orbital phase for the burst is 0.66. The time-averaged flux has been estimated to be (4.7 +/-1.2) x 10 exp -10/sq cm s at energies equal to or greater than 3 TeV.
