A hypothesis is proved in which resonant asteroids exit from gaps as a result of near approach to Jupiter after sufficient increase in the eccentricities of their orbits. Results are presented of numerical modeling and of calculations of the evolution of orbits of real asteroids near the 1/3 commensuration. It is shown that in the process of the evolution of the orbits of asteroids in gaps, it becomes possible for the eccentricity to grow to a point affording a close approach to Jupiter.
