Recent field measurements of BrO radical concentrations and estimates of ClO radical concentrations from field measurements of hydrocarbons have been used to calculate the ozone depletion rate in the Arctic boundary layer which occurs during springtime. Considering the ozone cycles involving the ClO/BrO reaction and the BrO self-reaction the calculated ozone depletion rates, as high as 6 ppb/day, are comparable to the observations.
