Plasma convection patterns are compared for two 24 h periods of continuous whistler data recorded at Sanae, Antarctica (L = 4) under very quiet magnetic conditions. The plasma convection patterns are remarkably similar, both displaying a bulge at about 1700 UT (1530 MLT) and a second post-midnight bulge. It is therefore suggested that the double bulge in the convection pattern may be a permanent feature characteristic of ground state conditions.
