Simple formulas are obtained which describe radio-wave absorption in the
outer ionosphere. The possibility is considered of determining profiles
of the electron-ion collision frequency and the electron temperature
above the maximum height of the F2 layer by using data on absorption at
several frequencies emitted by a satellite.
