We show in this paper the goals of the Galactic Emission Mapping (GEM) project at Portugal. This project aims to map the North Hemisphere low frequency polarized foreground contaminants of the Cosmic Microwave Background in the frequency range 5-10GHz. The resulting maps will be merged with a correspondent map of the southern Hemisphere obtained by the GEM-Brazil team to produce an almost all-sky template of the polarized synchrotron. This data will be important for proper polarized foreground extraction in the data processing of Planck Surveyor and other near-future Cosmic Microwave Background polarization B-mode probing experiments.
