Siewert et al. (1979) have used the F sub N method, basic to radiative transfer and neutron-transport theory, to obtain accurate numerical solutions to a number of basic problems. The method, however, was used primarily to calculate surface quantities, such as the albedo and the transmission factor. In the present paper, the method is applied to the calculation of the radiation field due to a point source of radiation located at the center of a finite sphere. The mean intensity is calculated as a function of the optical variable.
