A new circuit is developed for stabilizing shot-noise-generated singles rates in atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes that are being extensively used in the field of very-high energy gamma-ray astronomy. While it is comparable in performance to the conventional padding-lamp systems, the present circuit is particularly convenient to use where (1) a high detector packing-density is deployed, as in Cherenkov light imaging systems, and (2) a large number of detectors are distributed in an array of several tens of meters' size.
