The evolution of magnetic helicity in a rapidly growing active region is
governed mainly by the advection of magnetic fields into the
photosphere. Dissipation at the photosphere makes only a minor
contribution to helicity evolution. Current helicity dissipation in the
three-dimensional domain around the active region can be ignored.
