The present study examines a nontraditional mechanism of radio emission of type III bursts at plasma double frequency. Langmuir waves are generated by fast electron fluxes, and the transverse waves are produced by the scattering of Langmuir waves by thermal ions. It is shown that this mechanism is of a threshold nature. The brightness temperatures of bursts at the second harmonic are obtained for a gasdynamical model of type III bursts. At decameter waves they are 10 to the 9th to 10 to the 10th K.
