Solar Flares: Electron Acceleration
Scientific paper
At the beginning basic properties of the impulsive electron acceleration in solar flares, which can be deduced from hard X-ray (HXR) observations, are listed. Next, models of stochastic and systematic electron acceleration are discussed. It is shown that stochastic acceleration cannot explain all the basic properties of the electron acceleration which are derived from the HXR observations. A model of systematic acceleration in collapsing magnetic traps has been worked out and it is shown to be in agreement with all the basic properties of the impulsive acceleration.
