I analyze data on 6 radio pulsars in order to reveal systematic interrelation of their gamma and radio phase curves. The method used allows to rigorously prove a significant evolution effect that is the drift of the pulses in phase as the pulsar's period increases. On the other hand, no significant evolution with age is found. The revealed dependency of gamma-ray phase curves on period allows to construct a powerful detection algorithm that is at least an order of magnitude more powerful than those based on χ2 and H-tests. The particular kind of the found evolution favors the outer gap model of gamma-ray emission, provided the emission region is closer to the surface in long period pulsars.
