The paper describes briefly the effects of the tilt of atmospheric isopycnic layers on astronomical observations. According to the absolute determination of instantaneous astronomical refraction with the Lower Latitude Meridian Circle, a new method is proposed in which the tilt is determined with alternative observations between meridian and prime vertical. The calculation formulae of the tilt value are derived and the accuracy estimated.
