We have made a measurement of the anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) at degree angular scales in three separate frequency bands centered on 31, 41, and 144 GHz, using a ground-based instrument called MAT (Mobile Anisotropy Telescope). MAT observes from a high altitude (5200 m) site in northern Chile, and employs a fast-scanning observing strategy that has been used with success in the Saskatoon anisotropy experiments (Ap.J. 476, 440). MAT is very similar to the QMAP instrument (astro-ph/9808043), using the same dewar, optics, and HEMT-based radiometers, but additionally includes two 144 GHz, 0.2(deg) FWHM receivers that are based on SIS mixer technology. Observations were carried out during the Chilean springs of 1997 and 1998. Analysis of the data is performed in a manner similar to that done for the Saskatoon experiment, by applying synthesized weighting vectors to the chop-synchronous data and determining a maximum likelihood rms temperature for a range of angular scales. Results from our 1997 observing season are reported.
