Using Shoemaker's new meteorite statistics, meteorite impacts on the moon should produce more seismic events than previously estimated. Whether the meteoritic seismic sources can provide useful information concerning the structure of the moon or contribute to the ambient noise depends on the inelastic attenuation. If Q >= 300, meteorites might generate a useful number of seismic events. If Q >= 100, no useful events would occur.
