We report on the 0.33 GHz detection of a new bursting and transient radio source, GCRT J1745-3009, located ˜1 degree south of the Galactic center. During 2002 and 2003, we monitored the Galactic center for transient and variable sources at 0.33 GHz. GCRT J1745-3009 was detected on an archival VLA observation made during this period. We summarize the properties of this novel transient source, as reported in Hyman et al. (2005). In particular, we conclude that GCRT J1745-3009 is likely a new type of coherent emitter.
