An approach to numerical evolution of the Altarelli-Parisi equations is outlined. The method consists of discretisation of the Bjorken x variable so that the resulting matrix equation may be solved exactly as a function of Q2. The advantages are three-fold. The first is a major computational improvement, both increased speed and dramatically reduced storage space. The second gain is that data parametrization may be achieved via data bins rather than a fixed functional form and thus (with the aid of the full correlation matrix), for example, appraisal of the low-x asymptotic behavior is rendered more transparent and free of pollution from the higher x regions. Finally, the number of x bins used for parametrization will certainly exceed the usual number of parameters and thus (in principle) allow a much improved fit. .
