A modified interferometric mapping technique is presented for observations where absolute phase information is not available. This is especially applicable to VLBI observations. The technique corrects weakness of conventional hybrid mapping methods in measuring source symmetry, particularly for arrays with an outrigger antenna. An example of such an array is a set of Earth-based antennas plus an orbiting antenna.
