The internet has made it possible to control the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Haystack Observatory in Westford, MA, from a distance. This capability allows undergraduate laboratory classes in physics and astronomy to acquire and analyze radio astronomical data that were previously unavailable. This paper describes an activity to observe recombination lines and compare them with theoretical predictions that would be appropriate for a modern physics class.
