Earth Atmosphere: Ozone

Scientific paper

The authors have investigated the kinetics of photochemical processes in the vicinity of the ozone layer, including man-made pollution. They have set up a model in the framework of a diffusive-photochemical model in one spatial dimension. They have developed a code, and have created a data bank. Using the code, they can automatically program the photochemical part of the model, and can graph the results of the modelling. The model calculations show that if man-made pollution of the atmosphere by chlorofluorocarbons (freon) is admitted to the troposphere at 1980 levels, the ozone layer will be destroyed by up to 4.3%.
