Mira Stars: Sio Masers, Mira Stars: Stellar Atmospheres, Sio Masers: Radiative Transfer
Scientific paper
Adopting the velocity structure with negative velocity region for a Mira atmosphere and considering the dust radiation pumping for an SiO maser, the statistical equilibrium and radiative transfer equations of SiO emission are solved for Mira variables. The results show: the SiO (υ = 1 and 2, J = 1-0) lines are systematically shifted to the red. The brightness temperatures, photon emissivity and spatial extent are also derived. All these results are in good agreement with SiO observations and demonstrate that the pulsation of Mira variables plays an important role in forming SiO maser spectra.
