Plasma Diagnostics: Aurorae

Scientific paper

A refractive soliton solution of magnetosonic wave is obtained in the small pitch angle between wave propagation and magnetic field. It can be used to explain simultaneously a milliseconds cavity in the plasma density, and a coexistent spike in the perpendicular electric field, which was observed by Freja satellite in the region of low altitude aurora.
