It is shown that, knowing the height of the sun above the local horizon at the moment of picture taking, it is possible to determine the depth of a meteorite crater from a single photograph taken from space. A system of equations is derived whose solution makes it possible to obtain an expression for determining the depth of a crater from the known location (extracted from the photograph) of a point of the shadow boundary.
