Our new metallicity measurements for a sample of AGN including, narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies, indicate that, at least for low-luminosity AGN, metallicity is strongly related to accretion-rate. Measurements of the Hβ region in a small number of luminous quasars seem to support this scenario and suggest that metallicity may be primarily related to accretion-rate, rather than to luminosity or black-hole mass. We are currently investigating this hypothesis, and the possible role of other properties, such as density, in a larger sample of luminous quasars.
