We construct the classical mechanics associated with a conformally flat
Riemannian metric on a compact, n-dimensional manifold without boundary. The
corresponding gradient Ricci flow equation turns out to equal the
time-dependent Hamilton-Jacobi equation of the mechanics so defined.
