The previously obtained periodic solution of the equation governing vertical diffusion of ionization in the F2-region is generalized to include a uniform upward or downward drift velocity. The electron density, expressed in the form of a definite integral, is a function of the three parameters representing attachment-type recombination, diffusion and drift velocity respectively. The solution is used to discuss 1. (1) electron distributions under middle latitude conditions, 2. (2) the latitude dependence of electron density assuming the ionization to be constrained by the geomagnetic field lines 3. (3) the behaviour of the F2-region during solar eclipses.
