The supernova explosion observed recently in the Large Magellanic Cloud can be used to place the limit σ<10-35 cm2 on the neutrino-neutrino scattering cross section. This limit does not depend on any of the details of the theory of supernovæ. If v-v scattering is due to the exchange of a scalar particle with mass smaller than the neutrino temperature Tv, then the limit on the scalar-neutrino coupling constant is gcc2<5.1×10-6(TV/10 MeV).
