This preliminary study includes modelling the dark matter mass in
spirals using rotation curves from neutral hydrogen data and optical
photometry. Two software packages for generating rotation curves are
compared, one of which uses a genetic algorithm. Our goal is to classify
a sample of nearby spirals by their rotation curve features.
