Black Holes: Space-Time
Scientific paper
It is shown that, for static space-times, the phenomenon of Hawking radiation can be understood in terms of representations of the two-dimensional Poincaré group. An action of the two-dimensional Poincaré group is globally defined over the whole of space-time, but only generates isometries at the event horizon and in the asymptotically flat region. Some simple space-times are discussed.
