Scientific paper

The emissivity problem involving specular and diffuse reflection at the
surface is considered. A variational principle is derived to estimate
both the hemispherical and angular emissivities. Asymptotic and once
iterated asymptotic angular distributions are used as trial functions to
produce numerical results.
