Self-similar solutions for a cold fluid are proposed, neglecting the effects of gravity and considering only solutions which apply to systems without shell crossing. While some of the solutions have similar behavior to the ones with gravity, others have a characteristic length scale and are self-similar only for a finite period of time. In the second part, the whole set of self-similar Newtonian solutions for collapsing and expanding noncrossing shells are presented, looking for solutions which include gravity and in which each shell has nonzero energy. The implications of the theorem and the corresponding solutions in general relativity are also discussed.
