The paper presents a large beam, five-band IR differential photometer for the study of diffuse emission of galactic and extragalactic origins. Here attention is given to the main features of the experimental apparatus and its calibration. The experiment was flown on a stratospheric balloon on July 30, 1984, and it collected data for about 15 hours.
