The seasonal-longitude morphology for equatorial spread F is studied using an instability model that includes the contributions from plasma away from the magnetic equatorial plane. The effects of the transequatorial component of the thermospheric wind and E x B drift are examined. It is found that both effects are equally important in controlling the occurence of equatorial spread F. The results are compared to observations from stations at Jicamarca, Peru and Fortaleza, Brazil.
