We request 1200h of ATCA time at 2.3 GHz, in conjunction with the proposal by Klamer et al ( A long overdue synthesis image of Centaurus A ), to measure the spectral index and rotation measure of the sources that we have already detected at 1.4 GHz in the ATLAS survey. There are three distinct science drivers for this project: (1) to measure the spectral indices of the sources to distinguish between star-forming galaxies and AGN; (2) to identify ultra-steep-spectrum sources to understand why they are located predominantly at high redshifts, and (3) to measure the rotation measure of the polarised flux so that we can determine the intergalactic magnetic field.
