The possible existence of a luminosity segregation effect in the CfA catalog is investigated. A simple method is presented that permits reliable limits to be set on the difference in the clustering properties of two different galactic populations. The method is insensitive to the main uncertainties in the amplitude of the correlation function, namely, the normalization problem and sampling fluctuations. The method's power is demonstrated by studying the dependence of the correlation function on luminosity.
