New measurements of the radio structure of 26 quasars are combined with existing structural and spectral data to investigate the radio properties of a sample of 112 quasars identified from the 3CR and 4C surveys. The majority of the quasars have steep radio spectra, and many possess D1 double structure. As reported in previous studies the size of this structure decreases with increasing redshift, but there is now evidence that the lower luminosity 4C quasars have physical sizes 1.3 + or - 0.3 times those of the corresponding 3CR quasars. Quasars with concave radio spectra have sizes which are about half those of steep-spectrum quasars of comparable redshift, but further observations are required to establish whether this is due to evolutionary effects, or to differences in structural morphology. A significant proportion of the quasars with flat radio spectra have D2 extended structure.
