The recently proposed statistical approach to second order Fermi acceleration is compared to the standard, Fokker-Planck approach. By constructing the Green's function of the time-dependent transport problem, using both methods, it is shown that the resulting particle spectra are basically identical. The statistical approach thus does not lead to a revision of the theory of second-order Fermi acceleration.
