Information on the infall velocity towards the prominent galactic clusters at distances not greater than 80/h Mpc and the push from some local voids is obtained on the basis of a sample of elliptical galaxies. The results are compared with IRAS findings. From the ellipticals, it is found that the large clusters at distances greater than 40/h Mpc cause large motions (greater than 100 km/s) at the Local Group. The combined contribution of these far structures is weak. The Local Group motion may be mainly due to the matter close to the Milky Way. The data are also consistent with the existence of a very local inhomogeneity in the halo of Virgo or a 'thermal' motion of the Local Group, i.e., a local anomaly.
