A new time dependent 2-D code, PLANET-TD, has been developed for plasma edge simulations with a particular emphasis on plasma neutral gas-wall interaction. The code has its own diffusive neutral transport model but can also operate in conjunction with the DEGAS neutral transport code. The high (neutral hydrogen) recycling and substantial low-Z impurity content conditions are of great importance for the magnetic fusion research. The PLANET-TD code has the capability of treating the strongly coupled system of hydrogen plasma, impurity plasma, and neutral gas simultaneously. Consequently, the situations with large energy dissipation from a (tokamak) edge plasma can be studied. An application designed to explore the limits of high recycling is described and the results are discussed.
