A refined version of a scenario for the chaotic inflation of the universe is developed in the context of N = 1 supergravitation models. The scenario provides for a sufficiently strong inflation and yields the required amplitude of density inhomogeneities arising after the inflation and eventually leading to the formation of galaxies. In the models considered here, the superpotential of matter fields can assume infinitely small values in the absolute minimum of the effective potential, which is a necessary condition for solving the problem of the hierarchy of interactions.
