Scientific paper

We propose to perform a survey of a large portion of the Small
Magellanic Cloud with ACIS-I. These observations will allow us to
determine the X-ray stellar populations down to low luminosity limits
(LX = 1E34 erg/s), 10 times deeper than ROSAT.
