A procedure for determining the elements of an intermediate orbit on the basis of rectangular geocentric equatorial coordinates and their derivatives is described. This procedure makes it possible to account for all perturbations due to the second zonal harmonic of the geopotential as well as for secular and partially periodic perturbations due to an arbitrary even zonal harmonic.
