In Waseda Nasu Pulsar Observatory, 160 [Author ID2: at Fri Jul 14 10:34:00 2006 ]km north of Tokyo, there are eight element fixed spherical dishes which are 20 [Author ID2: at Fri Jul 14 10:35:00 2006 ]m in diameter each. In this observatory, by using eight element dishes as interferometer, we've started the program of a search for radio transients since 2004. Each of the interferometers is made up of two element spherical dishes, and we've observed four declination lines simultaneously by drift-scanning with four pair interferometers for two or three weeks. On 12 January 2006, 16:49:30 UT (Japanese Standard Time 13 January 2006, 01:49:30), a transient fringe, WJN J0951+33 (> 1.0Jy) (see, Figure), appeared at (J2000) RA=09h51m, Dec=33degree (l=193deg, b=50deg). Our detection limit is 0.2-0.3Jy (1.0s integration time). So, this transient was detected 5sigma. [Author ID1: at Mon Jul 17 18:16:00 2006 ][S::S][Author ID1: at Mon Jul 17 18:16:00 2006 ] We confirmed that the fringe cycle of this radio transient is the same as that of a standard source (B0523+3247) by auto-correlation. [Author ID1: at Mon Jul 17 18:16:00 2006 ][S::S][Author ID1: at Mon Jul 17 18:16:00 2006 ] If this transient signal were attributable to artificial signals such as radio frequency interference (RFI), a fringe or a fringe cycle such a standard source wouldn't appear for drift-scanning. Besides, if the origin of RFI were artificial signals around observatory, the signal (WJN J0951+33) would be also detected by the other three interferometers. After considering these points, this signal was attributable to an object on the celestial sphere. We are discussing this high Galactic radio transient, which could be a highly variable blazar or a cosmological phenomenon such as a GRB.
