Data collected by Voyager 1, during a Jupiter flyby, March 3-6, 1979, are presented. The imaging experiment included a study of global atmospheric circulation and the vertical structure of the upper atmospheric levels, vertical and horizontal cloud structure and coloration, specific features such as the Great Red Spot, white ovals, plumes, and hot spots, the geology and atmospheres of the satellites, a search for lightning and auroras on the night side. Infrared surveys were made and compared with infrared images taken from earth. Voyager 1 encountered Jupiter's bow shock three times, and evidence of a previously unknown ring around Jupiter was recorded. A few hours before periapsis, Amalthea (major axis 270 km and about 100,000 km from Jupiter) was photographed and shown to reflect 50 percent more red than violet light. Details on the surface of Io are presented noting the very high volcanic activity even though the surface temperature is very cold. Callisto, orbiting at a mean distance of 1.7 million km from Jupiter, was also examined in detail. By March 15, over 15,000 photographs had been returned along with other scientific data.
