Motivated by the recent work of Toussaint, Treiman, Wilczek and Zee, we propose an explanation of the baryon number excess in the Universe as a quantum effect in curved space-time. Our mechanism necessitates microscopic baryon number non-conservation and CP violation. It is emphasized that time dependence of the CP violation phase due to the expansion of the Universe is important in the baryon number generation. An explicit gauge model of baryon number and CP non-conservation is constructed. The ratio of baryon number to entropy NB/Nγ is of the order of a quartic Higgs coupling constant in that model.
