HERE we point out that published Rb-Sr data for Apollo 14 whole rock samples define an isochron age of 4.31 +/- 0.04 aeon, which is interpreted as their time of igneous crystallization. Previously reported internal isochron ages of these rocks range from 3.87 to 3.96 aeon1, in excellent agreement with their 40Ar/39Ar ages2. We think that these approximate to the time of the Imbrium impact event and ejection of the material of the Fra Mauro Formation.
