A 10.79-kg layered tektite from Hainan is the largest tektite from
China, and the fifth largest reported to date. It, together with a
1.9-kg Hainan tektite described by Yuan (1981), greatly extends the area
of the Australasian field within which layered tektites having masses
greater than 1 kg have been found.
